Job description

The Opportunity

A community emergency department in the Prime Healthcare Michigan group, running about 36,000 visits a year roughly 1.8 to 2 patients an hour across 32 main beds plus 6 fast track. The department has been through a substantial leadership-driven redevelopment during 2026, which is an unusual thing to be able to say about a community ED. No procedures are required in this role. Detroit metro access, suburban cost of living, and the airport close by.

What You'll Own

  • Assisting the ED physicians across a 32-bed main department plus 6 fast track.
  • About 36,000 visits a year at roughly 1.8 to 2 patients an hour.
  • No procedures required in this role.
  • A department actively being rebuilt under dedicated ED leadership rather than left to drift.

Must-Haves

  • NP or PA
  • Michigan license, or eligibility in process
  • Emergency medicine experience expected

Nice to Have

  • Three or more years of EM experience
  • Fast track familiarity
  • Epic familiarity

What Working Here Is Actually Like

  • $130,000 $145,000 annually depending on shift mix, W-2.
  • Full W-2 benefits. Medical, dental and vision from the first of the month after hire; employer-paid life at 1x salary up to $300,000; employer-paid long-term disability at 60% of salary; 401(k). The benefit plan year runs 1 October to 30 September.
  • Malpractice and tail both covered. Tail is the one people forget to ask about until they leave.
  • Epic.
  • Full-time runs about hours a month across roughly 12 shifts a schedule with real days off in it.
  • Physician-owned and physician-managed since 2012. When you escalate a problem, it reaches a physician who still works clinical shifts.
  • Not a locums agency. An ongoing program position with a named, stable team.
  • Detroit metro access with suburban living, affordable housing, major-airport proximity and Great Lakes recreation.

Straight Talk

The physician line at this site is currently closed while the APP line is a priority, which tells you something about how the department is staffed right now you will be working closely with a small physician group. Ask us what the current grid looks like, because our own records list two physicians plus one APP and that may have moved.

About Inhospital Physicians (IHP): IHP is a physician-owned and physician-managed group, headquartered in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania and operating since 2012, running Emergency Medicine, Hospitalist, Intensivist and post-acute programs for acute-care hospitals, LTACHs and health systems across multiple states. IHP is not a locums agency; these are ongoing program positions with stable, named teams.
